Description
Description
A Choice Drop of Honey From the Rock Christ is a small work that Thomas Wilcocks wrote before the great fire in London (1666). It reached such acclaim that by 1699 there were already five editions printed. This work has become a tiny jewel in the crown of the Particular Baptists.
Wilcocks urges sinners to look to Christ for all their righteousness before God. He exposes all the subtle ways we look to our own righteousness to justify ourselves, instead of Christ’s perfect righteousness. He writes, “Do not legalise the gospel, as if part did remain to thee to do and suffer, Christ were but an half mediator, and thou must bear part of thine own sin and make part satisfaction. Let sin break thy heart, but not thy hope in the gospel.”
If the foundation of your faith has not been laid by Christ, and the blood of Christ is not at the root of your profession, it will come tumbling down at the last day. “The honey that you suck from your own righteousness will turn into perfect gall,” but for the Christian, the honey is sweet because it is drawn from the rock, Christ.
